If you’re a gamer, the PlayStation Network (PSN) is a great place to be. (Even if you’re not a gamer, it’s still a great place to be — it’s loaded with movies, too.)
But it would be even better with free PlayStation gift cards, right?
If you’re dreaming of PS4 gift card codes free, you’re in the right place.
While genuinely “free” Playstation gift cards don’t exist in many places, there are plenty of places online where you can get almost “free” PSN codes for performing simple tasks like filling out surveys.
But, not all methods are made equal, and scams abound, so I compiled this article to help you find out how to get free Playstation gift cards.
Almost (but not quite) free PlayStation gift cards…
Survey sites don’t give you free money, but the effort of taking surveys is pretty minimal, if time-consuming. Many survey sites allow you to redeem points for PlayStation gift cards, as well as gift cards to all sorts of other retailers.
Our two favorite (and legit) survey sites?
InBoxDollars and Swagbucks.

The PlayStation Ecosystem
Why should you care about PlayStation? Because it’s much more than gaming.
True, the PlayStation Network (PSN) represents the ecosystem of Sony’s console gaming empire on the internet.
But PSN has grown beyond console gaming. It’s now integrated with smartphones, TVs, tablets, and Blu-ray players and offers its 100 million+ users access to video games, downloadable content (DLC), movies, and more.
While you can get anything on PSN using your trusty credit card, there are several other ways you can access these products while venturing little other than your time. So, how to get free PlayStation gift cards?
Legitimate Sources vs. Scams
Getting free PlayStation gift cards isn’t as easy as Googling “free psn codes” or “ps4 gift card codes free” and racking up free stuff. (Sorry.)
Both the number of ways you can get PSN rewards and the ways you can get scammed while trying to get free stuff have significantly expanded.
Public Service Announcement: Any website that claims you can get PSN gift cards for free without asking for anything in return is most likely a scam.
The easiest legitimate way of getting these rewards is by filling out surveys. While it’s not hard work, it takes a lot of time to earn any substantial rewards.
It could take an hour or more to earn even $5 worth of rewards, so the idea of “free” PlayStation gift cards is a bit misleading. You’ll have to invest time and energy.
The bottom line? So-called code generators are not the answer to how to get free PlayStation gift cards. However, I’ve compiled a list of legit ways of getting free PSN gift cards at a reasonable rate — keep reading to learn more.
How to Earn Almost Free PlayStation Gift Cards
1. Branded Surveys
Branded Surveys is a platform that lets you earn various real-world rewards by filling out surveys. While the pace of earning is generally somewhat slow, the website is established and generally has a good reputation.
How it Works: Branded Surveys lets you complete various surveys in exchange for points. These points can then be exchanged for real-world value with the equation being approximately 100 points for $1.
The minimum amount of points you can exchange is 500 and most users concur that on most days they can accrue about 200 points. The platform is available in the US, UK, and Canada.

Rewards: Along with PlayStation gift cards, Branded Surveys offers a wide selection of other rewards including other specific gift cards, Visa gift cards, and even PayPal balance.
2. Swagbucks
As a rewards platform, Swagbucks boasts both a very solid reputation as well as numerous ways of earning its points, called (wait for it) Swagbucks. These Swagbucks can then be converted into various types of real-world value including almost free PSN gift cards.
How it Works: Swagbucks lets its users engage in a wide variety of activities including filling out surveys and playing games, and even enables them to earn Swagbucks when shopping. You can then exchange these points for real-world value with 100 points being worth $1.
While Swagbucks occasionally offers very worthwhile surveys, other activities usually tend to be a better use of your time and some users even report making as much as $1,000 within a year.

Rewards: Along with PSN gift cards, Swagbucks also offers numerous other rewards like Steam gift cards if you are a PC gamer, Visa gift cards if you aren’t a gamer at all, and you can also get PayPal balance if you like keeping your options open.
3. InBoxDollars
InBoxDollars is another website that lets you complete different activities like completing surveys and watching videos in exchange for rewards.
According to the platform’s users, your actual mileage, reward-wise, may vary widely with some earning hundreds of dollars and others absolutely nothing.
How it Works: InBoxDollars is a website that offers a variety of paid activities to its users. These range from completing surveys to things like playing games, watching videos, reading emails, and many, many others.
The rewards for completing activities also vary widely with surveys officially paying anything between $0.10 and $5 each. The amount you get will generally depend on your location and demographic, as well as the specificities of the tasks themselves.

Rewards: InBoxDollars offers a wide array of rewards. These include PSN gift cards, as well as many other vendor-specific gift cards like Amazon, Sephora, Target, Home Depot, and Starbucks.
If you aren’t immediately sure what you want as a reward you can also get a PayPal balance transfer in exchange for completing InBoxDollars activities.
4. Sony Rewards
Sony Rewards is a loyalty program of the PlayStation Ecosystem. It offers a wide variety of rewards for a wide variety of activities. It has a mixed reputation — not for being a scam, but for being a hassle to use.
How it Works: Sony Rewards is a loyalty program that enables its users to earn points in exchange for completing a wide variety of tasks. These generally include making purchases, either through the PSN network or with affiliated vendors. It also enables you to earn points by scanning various bills and receipts.
In a sense, Sony Rewards is a form of passive income as it lets you get something in return for things you would be doing either way, It is, however, worth pointing out that the conversion rate of points is rather poor and you can expect to have to spend hundreds of dollars to get $1-5 in return.
Many users also report experiencing significant delays in receiving rewards as well as rewards commonly being out of stock for extended periods.
Rewards: Conversion to gift card / PSN code, mention other reward options
Sony Rewards offers a variety of rewards including PSN and other gift cards, but also several physical items including electronics.
You should note, however, that the conversion rate is generally better for gift cards – $100 spent nets you about $8 in rewards – than other rewards – $100 spent nets you about $1.
5. Giveaways
Giveaways are a relatively common feature of various marketing campaigns. You can generally expect to stumble upon them whenever a new product is being launched, or whenever there is a special event like a holiday or anniversary.
I’d personally say that the best places to look for giveaways are Youtube, TikTok, and Instagram as various brands will often make special promo deals with prominent influencers.
You could also use websites like Reddit to discover active giveaways but it is important to be on the lookout for scammers.
How it Works: Giveaways tend to be the result of deals between brands and prominent individuals or companies. Generally, influencers will get a certain number of promo codes they can distribute to their followers.
Giveaways come in various shapes and sizes and there is an almost infinite amount of possible requirements.
These events often take the form of a race or are akin to a lottery. Some influencers will require you to be among the first to comment on a post to receive the reward.
Others will simply require you to comment or subscribe and then you’d become a part of some sort of a lottery system that gives you a chance of getting a reward.
Additionally, sometimes you’d have to complete more specific tasks like solving a puzzle, or a riddle to receive the reward if the influencer is feeling creative or you’d have to donate to a charity to get your name into the reward lottery.
Rewards: PSN-focused giveaways can offer a variety of rewards depending on the exact deal between the company and the influencer. You can generally expect a specific game or other product as a reward, or a gift card equivalent, like a code for a set amount of store credit.
PSN Code Generators: Fact or Fiction?
You might be wondering, “What about those PSN code generators I heard about, are they a way to get free PlayStation stuff?”
The answer is, unfortunately, no. The PlayStation Network is an important part of Sony’s revenue and they would not allow legitimate code generators to exist.
It is very important to stay away from these supposed free PSN code generator sites. Not only are they useless for getting PlayStation rewards, but they are also often a part of a more sinister scam that has been known to lead to the theft of bank account information, identity theft, and similar calamities.
Other Ways to Earn Passive Income
While PSN code generators are scams, there are other ways you can passively earn PlayStation gift cards – or actual money you can use in the ecosystem and anywhere else.
Let’s take a look at some of the great options you can use to get yourself some passive income!
1. Pawns
Pawns is a platform that offers you several ways to earn rewards like PSN gift cards. On the one hand, you can take the same approach as with websites like Swagbucks and complete surveys to earn money.
On the other, if you have the Pawns app installed, you can also earn passive income by allowing it to use your internet connection. In a nutshell, this lets vetted third parties “gather bits of information from the internet” using your connection and then share the spoils with you.
You should note, however, that while Pawns is a very easy way of earning extra money, it is also fairly slow.
For example, if you let the app use one IP address for 24 hours each day throughout an entire month, you can expect to receive about $10.
2. moomoo
If you are not only looking to earn PSN codes but also potentially earn cash for PSN gift cards, more traditional investing is always a great option. Moomoo is one of the most user-friendly options.
It is a commission-free broker that offers stocks, ETFs, and more. It’s a great choice as it is low-cost, easy to use, and designed to be highly accessible to all kinds of investors.
Essentially, moomoo lets you let your assets work instead of you whenever you are looking to get PSN codes, or money for anything else you wish. Additionally, if you want to stay PlayStation-focused, you can use moomoo to invest in Sony itself.
This not only allows you to grow your investment — Sony (NYSE: SONY) is up nearly 20% YTD — but also get dividends. The Japanese giant, for example, offers a 0.62% annual dividend yield.
As a bonus, moomoo also allows you to earn interest on uninvested cash. The platform offers an impressive 5.1% APY in its Cash Sweep Program, which is one of the highest rates out there right now. (And yes, your account is FDIC-insured.)
Effective November 3rd, 2023, new users opting into the cash sweep program will receive a 5.1% annualized yield on their uninvested balance. Existing users can enjoy the same rate by depositing a minimum of $500.

3. M1 Finance
M1 Finance is another option for getting some passive income that I like. It is an all-in-one financial app that helps you keep your loans in check, allows you to invest in the stock market, and offers a high-yield savings account.
Passive income-wise, M1 Finance’s savings account is particularly enticing. The APY for qualifying accounts, the annual percentage yield with the platform is 5% meaning that if you put $10k into the account, you’ll be $500 richer within a year.
The high APY also ensures that your savings won’t be eaten up by the current relatively high inflation rate.
Final Word:
Ultimately, the best way to get PSN codes will vary for each individual. Generally, whenever I find myself with more time than money, I like to take a look at what is available on InBoxDollars or Swagbucks.
On the flip side, I would always recommend eventually transitioning to investing or getting a high-yield savings account on M1 Finance — it allows you to get more money faster, and it gives you more flexibility as to how you are going to spend the money: whether it be PSN or Steam.
