Latest ACMR Analyst Ratings

Quinn Bolton, a top 1% analyst from Needham maintains ACMR with a buy rating and raises their ACMR price target from $10.00 to $12.00, on Jan 31, 2023.

Nick Cheng, a bottom 42% analyst from Jefferies upgrades ACMR to a hold rating and lowers their ACMR price target from $8.00 to $7.00, on Nov 7, 2022.

Cheng lowered his price target on ACM Research, Inc. by 12.5% following the release of the company's Q3 2022 earnings report on 2022/11/04.

Q3's beat was driven by a "great result" for its flagship cleaning tools and strong growth of new ECP/furnace tools, the analyst said.

However, management reduced the top end of its FY 2022 revenue guidance from $405M to $385M because of "supply constraints and new U.S. restrictions* on sales to China," Cheng continued.

* Reported here.

The analyst told investors he sees "lowered delisting risk and the overall impact from U.S. restrictions being limited to advanced nodes."

Nevertheless, Cheng cautioned that "risk from the recent BIS restrictions** is still an overhang and over-compliance or further restrictions are potential new risks."

For Q3 2022, ACM Research reported:

  • EPS of $0.42, which beat the consensus estimate of $0.23 and, by 121%, Q3 2021's $0.19.
  • Revenue of $133.71M, a 99.53% increase over Q3 2021's $67M.
  • Gross margin of 49.4% compared to Q3 2021's 44.5%.

For FY 2022, management guided:

  • Revenue of $365M to $385M, down from the previously guided $365M to $405M.

President & CEO Dr. David Wang commented: "Record revenue was achieved as operations largely returned to normal following the COVID-related restrictions in the first half of the year.

"We saw good progress at major semiconductor manufacturers outside of China. The evaluation is going well of two cleaning tools at the U.S. facility of a large U.S.-based manufacturer, and we are gaining traction with potential new customers in Europe and other regions.

"Construction of our Lingang production and R&D center is on track, and we are in the final stages of selecting a site to expand our R&D and production facilities in South Korea.”

“We have lowered the upper end of our FY 2022 revenue outlook to reflect the impact of the new U.S. trade policies and supply chain constraints. We anticipate our PRC-based customers to adapt to the new regulations, and to increase investments in capacity for mature nodes and power devices.

"Meanwhile, we are accelerating our efforts to participate in advanced node development for leading-edge fabs of global customers.”

Charlie Chan, a bottom 17% analyst from Morgan Stanley downgrades ACMR to a hold rating and lowers their ACMR price target from $28.00 to $9.00, on Oct 18, 2022.
