America's Economist Explains This Stock Market in Three Words
Something strange is happening in the stock market. Dr. Mark Skousen, the economist who called the '95 tech boom and the 2009 bottom, has boiled it down to three words. And if he's right, what happens next could make or break your retirement.
Watch the one move he says to make now – free, right here.
🔥 HOT: Technology distributor Ingram Micro (INGM) just delivered its strongest quarter since returning to the public market. Sales and net income both grew at double-digit rates, earnings beat expectations, and management raised full-year guidance. Its Xvantage platform is also making the business more efficient. For investors, that means a traditional distributor is turning into a stronger earnings growth story.
INGM has a Zen Rating of A, a Strong Buy recommendation. The Component Grades show broad strength: Artificial Intelligence earns an A, while Value, Growth, Momentum, and Sentiment all receive B grades. That points to improving earnings, a reasonable valuation, strong price action, and growing confidence all at once. Bottom line: record results, raised guidance, and a still-modest valuation make Ingram Micro one of the cleaner growth setups here.
🥶 NOT: Gene-editing biotech Beam Therapeutics (BEAM) just delivered promising clinical data, but the business still has a long way to go. Early BEAM-301 results showed proof of concept, yet revenue is expected to decline, losses are projected to continue for years, and cash burn remains heavy. More than a third of the float is also sold short.
BEAM has a Zen Rating of F, a Strong Sell recommendation. The Component Grades show why the risk remains high: Growth, Sentiment, and Artificial Intelligence all receive D grades, while every other component is only C. Bottom line: the science may be promising, but Beam is still a clinical-stage story without the business performance to support it.
🔥 HOT: Footwear maker Crocs (CROX) just gave investors exactly what they wanted. Third-quarter earnings and revenue beat expectations, management raised its full-year outlook, international sales stayed strong, and its recent Hey Dude footwear brand acquisition finally showed signs of turning around. Profitability has also surged.
CROX has a Zen Rating of A, a Strong Buy recommendation. The Component Grades show why the rally still has support: Value, Financials, and Artificial Intelligence all earn A grades, while Sentiment gets a B. That says the stock remains inexpensive relative to earnings, the business is financially strong, and confidence is improving. TL;DR: Crocs has a fresh earnings catalyst, a new diversification stream recovery taking shape, and strong support from the underlying fundamentals.
🥶 NOT: Commission-free brokerage Robinhood (HOOD) is finding out what happens when one of its biggest growth engines cools. Crypto revenue fell by more than half, third-quarter revenue missed expectations, and analysts cut targets after the report. For investors, the diversification into prediction markets and other products is promising, but those newer businesses now have to prove they can replace slowing crypto momentum.
HOOD has a Zen Rating of F, a Strong Sell recommendation. The Component Grades show the disconnect between the story and the setup: Value, Growth, Sentiment, and Safety all earn D grades, while Momentum, Financials, and Artificial Intelligence sit at C. The short take: Robinhood still has growth avenues, but the latest quarter suggests the valuation is running ahead of the business.
