Donald Trump just announced the largest steel plant in American history, a $15 billion mega mill in Iowa. The catch? It is privately held. You cannot buy it.
So we ran the public steel and manufacturing names through our quant system, and found the 4 steel stocks we would own to play America's factory boom, the ones that mine it, melt it, forge it, and build it. The highest-ranked stock is saved for last.

No. It's not about Nvidia, Tesla, or Meta...
It's about one overlooked company profiting off AI "digital goldmines" that are poised to experience 100x growth very soon.
This new opportunity will change the market and make investors a lot of money.
That's why it has received a $500 billion commitment from President Trump himself...

Let's start with what happened. Standing in the Oval Office, President Trump announced that a company called Mesabi Metallics will build a $15 billion steel complex in Iowa, the largest steel plant in American history. It gets fed by a brand new $2.5 billion iron ore mine up on Minnesota's Iron Range. That is nearly $18 billion, mine to mill, with production targeted for 2030.
And this is just the loudest note in a much bigger comeback. Soon after taking office, the administration put a 50% tariff on imported steel. Since then, American steel has come roaring back. In 2025, the U.S. passed Japan to become the world's 3rd largest steel producer. Raw output is up 9%. American mills now supply 84% of the finished steel in this country, up from 77% in 2024. And new mill orders just hit a record $17.3 billion in a single month.
Here's the catch. That headline plant is privately held, Mesabi is owned by India's Essar group, so there is no ticker to buy. And the same goes for a lot of the direct action.
So why should you care? Because a reshoring wave this big sends the money straight to the public companies that mine the raw materials, make the steel, forge the high-grade metal, and build it all. The question is which ones.
Our Zen Ratings quant model reviews 115 fundamental, technical, and AI factors on 4,600-plus stocks and boils it down to one letter grade, A to F, plus 7 Component Grades that flag each stock's strengths and weaknesses. Steel is a boom and bust business, so most of these names do not pass. These 4 do…
We're going to get the party started with Steel Dynamics (STLD).
Steel Dynamics is one of the largest steelmakers in America, a modern, electric arc furnace operator that also happens to be one of the biggest metal recyclers in the country.
So why Steel Dynamics, and why now? Because it is one of the purest ways to own the comeback we just walked through, and those tariffs and the reshoring demand flow straight to domestic mills like this one.
And the numbers back it up. Wall Street experts are calling for earnings to grow more than 20% in the year ahead, and that's faster than the steel industry as a whole. Modest revenue growth turning into 20% plus earnings growth tells you the operating leverage here is real.
Here's the kicker, you are not paying up for that growth. Shares carry a PEG ratio right around 1.0. PEG is just the growth adjusted P/E, and the average stock out there trades closer to 1.5. So this is a classic case of GARP, Growth At A Reasonable Price.
Now let's bring in Wall Street. 10 analysts cover shares, and they land on a consensus Buy recommendation, with 4 of them pounding the table with a Strong Buy recommendation. The read from the Street is straightforward, they see shares heading higher from here.
But what really put Steel Dynamics on this list is our system's read on it. Steel Dynamics earns a Zen Rating of B, a Buy recommendation, landing in the top 14% of all the stocks we track.
Let's walk the Component Grades, strong to strongest.
Financial strength comes in at the top 18%, the AI grade, top 17%, and that AI grade measures how likely shares are to be timely, not how much artificial intelligence the company sells.
And the standout of the group is Growth, up in the top 13%.
The one thing to keep in mind … Yes, steel is a cyclical business. When the economy cools, demand cools with it, and margins can swing. That's the nature of the beast.
But with tariffs at its back, a factory boom lighting up demand, and a reasonable price tag, Steel Dynamics is the perfect foundation to kick off our list today.
Some of the most valuable metal in this entire boom is the high-grade stuff that goes into fighter jets and the power grid. And that's exactly where our next company lives.
Next up, this one is all about Wall Street conviction. We're talking about ATI Inc. (ATI).
ATI is an American specialty metals powerhouse. We're talking titanium, nickel-based superalloys, and high-grade, grain-oriented electrical steel. The kind of metal that goes into jet engines, defense systems, and the transformers that run our power grid.
And the timing could not be better. Defense spending is way up and shows no signs of slowing, about two thirds of ATI's business is aerospace and defense. Layer on the massive grid buildout this factory boom demands, and you've got multiple tailwinds blowing in the same direction.
This shows up in spades in the earnings. ATI has strung together 7 straight quarters of earnings beats, all of them with some pretty nice year-over-year growth. That's the kind of operational consistency that rarely happens by accident.
And it keeps going. Wall Street experts see earnings growing about 30% in the year ahead, out in front of the metal fabrication industry.
Now here is where it gets really juicy, the analysts. 7 analysts cover ATI, and all 7 are firmly onboard with Strong Buy recommendations. That is about as bullish as Wall Street gets. One of the loudest voices in the room ranks in the top 4% of all analysts for his stock picking, he's got a fair value target implying nearly 40% upside as of this writing.
In our system, ATI earns a B, a Buy recommendation, in the top 7% of all stocks.
And the Component Grades are where it really flexes.
Let's walk them, strong to strongest.
Growth, top 8%, Financial strength, top 9%, Sentiment, top 9%, which means the Smart Money crowd is moving in, Momentum, top 19%, and the standout, Safety, up in the top 7%. Safety measures how steady and predictable the earnings and share price are over time, so a top 7% there is a sign of real durability. That is 5 genuinely strong grades stacked on top of each other, a rare breadth of quality.
The biggest knock here is valuation. After a strong run, shares are simply not cheap, you're paying a premium for all that quality. Gladly, shares have cooled off a bit from their highs, which takes some of the edge off the entry.
But unanimous Strong Buy conviction, 7 straight beats, and a top 7% rating. That makes ATI the high-grade specialist of our group.

Now, every ounce of all this metal starts with something you have to dig out of the ground. So for our next pick, we're going underground.
Now we get to our first A-rated name of the day, Warrior Met Coal (HCC).
Warrior is an American miner of metallurgical coal, and that is the raw ingredient that goes into making steel. They run two mines down in Alabama, producing some of the highest quality coal on the planet.
Here's why it's exciting right now. Global steel demand is humming, and Warrior is ramping a brand new mine called Blue Creek, which pours low-cost, premium coal straight into that demand. And in a nice bit of timing, shares have actually pulled back about 11% over the past month, so we can snag them well off the highs. Buy the Dip.
Wall Street experts see this paying off, they're calling for earnings to grow around 35% in the year ahead. That's well ahead of the coal industry's pace.
And you are getting that growth at a steal. Warrior carries a PEG of just 0.71, remember, the average stock sits at 1.5. So this one trades at roughly half the valuation of the typical company. Growth is nice, but growth plus value is much, much nicer.
As for Wall Street, exactly as you'd expect for an under the radar miner like this, coverage is thin. Just 3 analysts are rating shares. Gladly, 2 of the 3 are firmly onboard with Strong Buy recommendations, and the top-ranked of the bunch, in the top 23% of all analysts, carries a fair value target implying more than 30% upside as of this writing. As more of Wall Street catches on, each new rating can act as its own catalyst for shares.
Now let's appreciate the outlook from our Zen Ratings quant model. Warrior earns an A, a Strong Buy recommendation, in the top 4% of all stocks.
And the component grades tell a beautifully balanced story. Value, Growth, Financial strength, and the AI grade all cluster together right around the top 15% of the market. The Value grade there is based on a review of 21 different value measures, and seeing Value, Growth, and Financial strength all pulling in the same direction is a rare and powerful combination.
One risk worth naming, the commodity itself. Met coal prices rise and fall with global steel demand, and that ride can get bumpy.
But a top 4% rating, a dirt-cheap PEG, and a fresh dip to buy into, that is a textbook picks and shovels play on the whole steel boom.

Drumroll please, our final stock is the single highest-rated name in its entire industry. Number 1, out of 41.
But let's back up. What does it actually do? This is Tutor Perini (TPC), one of America's biggest construction firms. They build the heavy stuff, infrastructure, transit systems, and the massive civil projects this country is leaning on as it builds.
And the “why now” is sitting right there on the balance sheet, a near-record backlog of work, around $20 billion, waiting to convert into earnings. As that pipeline turns into results, Wall Street experts see earnings growing nearly 69% in the year ahead. That is more than double the construction industry, and faster than the broad market itself.
And the price tag? Tutor Perini sports a PEG of just 0.57. That means shares could nearly double from here and still be cheaper than the average stock at 1.5. Growth like that, at a value like this, is exactly what we hunt for.
On the Wall Street front, this one is flying under the radar in a big way. Just a single analyst is covering shares right now, but he ranks in the top 12% of all analysts, he's got it at a Strong Buy recommendation, and his fair value target implies more than 25% upside as of this writing. When a name this strong has this little coverage, Wall Street simply hasn't shown up yet, and that can be our opportunity.
And here's the grand finale, the Zen Ratings. Tutor Perini earns an A, a Strong Buy recommendation, in the top 3% of all stocks. On top of that, as we said a while ago, it tops a list of 41 names in its industry, #1 overall.
Now, as far as the Components go, Sentiment, top 9%, telling us the Smart Money is onboard, Safety, top 10%, and the standout, Growth, up in the top 6%, exactly what you want to see behind that kind of earnings forecast.
The main weak spot is lumpiness. These are enormous, multiyear contracts, so earnings can jump around from one quarter to the next.
But with a near-record backlog, a #1 industry rank, and a PEG that leaves this much room to run, Tutor Perini is the perfect pick to build toward as the grand finale of our list today. And its many attractive attributes are also why our Editor-in-Chief, Steve Reitmeister, added it to his market-beating Zen Investor portfolio.
So there's the blueprint: Steel Dynamics makes the steel, ATI forges the high grade metal, Warrior Met Coal mines the raw ingredient, and Tutor Perini builds it all.
Reshoring and tariffs are not slowing down, so these names may not stay this cheap for long.
