3 Contrarian Stocks With Outsized Upside Potential
A trillion-dollar company cannot rise 100-fold without becoming larger than national economies. A small company can. That simple math is why legendary speculator Doug Casey continues to search neglected markets for opportunities. In a new free report, Casey reveals 3 stocks he likes right now and explains why the upside could greatly exceed the amount at risk.

🔥 HOT: Canadian oil sands producer Cenovus Energy (CVE) is going on offense. Its C$5.7 billion Athabasca Oil deal follows the MEG Energy transaction, giving Cenovus even more scale in one of Canada’s most important production regions. Profit margins have also improved sharply while leverage has come down. For investors, that means the company is expanding from a stronger financial base, not stretching to fund growth.
Shares have doubled from their 52-week low but still trade below their high, while the P/E remains modest versus industry peers.
CVE has a Zen Rating of A, a Strong Buy recommendation. The Component Grades show where that strength is coming from: Momentum, Financials, and Artificial Intelligence all earn A grades, with Growth at B. That says the rally is being supported by both strong financial execution and a powerful market trend. Bottom line: Cenovus has fresh acquisition-driven growth, improving fundamentals, and a valuation that still looks reasonable despite the run.
🥶 NOT: Nuclear fuel supplier Centrus Energy (LEU) is getting hit by both weakening fundamentals and dilution. Margins have fallen sharply, cash flow has turned negative, and the company recently raised $500 million through stock and warrants. Worse, revenue growth is expected to trail the uranium industry by a wide margin.
Shares are down nearly 70% from their 52-week high and sit close to the bottom of their range. For investors, the nuclear theme may still be attractive, but Centrus is showing little evidence it is the best way to play it.
LEU has a Zen Rating of F, a Strong Sell recommendation. The Component Grades help explain why: Value, Growth, Momentum, Safety, Financials, and Artificial Intelligence all earn D grades. Sentiment is the only C. That means the weakness is broad, spanning valuation, growth, price action, and financial health. Bottom line: the nuclear story is real, but Centrus currently looks like the wrong vehicle for it.
🔥 HOT: Healthcare and home-services operator Chemed (CHE) is delivering across both sides of its business. The company beat earnings and revenue last quarter, while Roto-Rooter continues buying back franchise territories to bring more revenue in-house. A recent Strong Buy initiation from UBS adds another catalyst, while earnings are forecast to rise sharply over the next year.
Shares are up more than 30% from their 52-week low but still trade below their high, leaving room if that earnings growth comes through.
CHE has a Zen Rating of A, a Strong Buy recommendation, putting it in a class of stocks that have historically beaten the S&P by nearly 3 to 1. Its Component Grades highlight the quality behind the setup: Financials earns an A, while Growth, Sentiment, and Artificial Intelligence receive B grades. That points to a well-run company with strong asset efficiency, improving earnings, and rising investor confidence. Bottom line: Chemed offers accelerating earnings and high-quality financials without relying on a flashy story to work.

🥶 NOT: Digital asset and data center operator Galaxy Digital (GLXY) keeps announcing big partnerships, but the latest results have not backed up the headlines. The company missed on both earnings and revenue, carries heavy leverage, and still has negative operating cash flow. For investors, that means the partnerships need to start producing real financial results before the story becomes compelling.
Shares are down more than 50% from their 52-week high and remain below their 2025 listing price.
GLXY has a Zen Rating of F, a Strong Sell recommendation. The Component Grades show just how much still needs to improve: Safety earns an F, while Value, Growth, Momentum, Financials, and Artificial Intelligence all receive D grades. Only Sentiment reaches C. That points to an unstable stock with weak growth, poor financial health, and little valuation support. Bottom line: Galaxy has no shortage of exciting announcements, but investors still need proof that those deals can translate into a stronger business.
