Loop Capital Upgrades Sea (SE) from Hold to Strong Buy, Raises Price Target

Loop Capital's Rob Sanderson upgraded their rating on Sea (NYSE: SE) from Hold to Strong Buy on 2024/04/24. The analyst also raised their price target by 55.9% from $59 to $92.

According to Sanderson, the main factors contributing to the pressure on Sea's stock valuation over the past two years are "strong competition and market share loss" to TikTok. Sanderson highlighted that a recent announcement by the merged TikTok-Tokopedia, indicating a commission fee rise, has sparked a reevaluation of Sea Limited. This move by the companies is seen as an attempt to appease Indonesian regulators.

Sanderson sees this as a significant development, signaling that the transition to long-term profitable growth for Sea Limited is "finally underway." The analyst noted that the "competitive rationality" exhibited by the merged entity has prompted Loop Capital to update its Sea valuation model from a "broken stock."

It is worth noting that 100% of top-rated analysts currently rate Sea Limited as a Strong Buy or Buy. No analysts consider it a Hold, and there are no recommendations to sell the stock.

Since Sea Limited's last quarterly report on December 31, 2023, the stock price has increased by 56.2%. However, on a year-over-year basis, the stock is down 19.6%. During this period, Sea Limited has trailed behind the S&P 500, which has experienced a decline of 22.6%.
