HSBC Analyst Rates Ford Motor Co as Hold Amidst Automotive Industry Disruption

HSBC's Wesley Brooks initiated their coverage on Ford Motor Co (NYSE: F) with a Hold rating and a $11.3 price target. Brooks highlighted several factors that led HSBC to declare that the "age of disruption is underway" in the automotive industry. These factors include the rising adoption of electric vehicles, the growing importance of software, and cost pressures affecting auto stocks. According to Brooks, the current prices of these stocks do not accurately reflect the cash flow expectations for the Buy-rated stocks in their portfolio.

According to a recent survey, 50% of top-rated analysts currently rate F as a Strong Buy or Buy, while the remaining 50% see it as a Hold. None of the analysts recommend or strongly recommend selling the stock. The consensus forecast among analysts is that Ford's upcoming year will deliver earnings per share (EPS) of $1.7. If the analysts' predictions hold true, Ford's next yearly EPS will witness a 10.2% increase on a year-over-year basis.

However, it's worth noting that since Ford's last quarterly report on September 30, 2023, the stock price has experienced a decline of 13.8%. When comparing the stock's performance year-over-year, it is down by 20%. During this period, Ford has been trailing behind the S&P 500, which itself has experienced a decline of 14.3%.
