Ciccarelli nudged down his price target on Costco Wholesale Corporation by 2.1% following the release of the company's Q4 and FY 2022 earnings report on 2022/09/22.

To reflect both a decline in the overall segment multiple and the company's "strong" Q4 results, the analyst said he reduced his PT and kept his rating, respectively.

Even as Costco's core retail operations become more profitable, consumers recognize its "unassailed" value proposition which continues to drive strong traffic and sales, the analyst summarized bullishly.

Ciccarelli further highlighted the company's strong fundamentals, "virtually unmatched" competitive positioning, and the potential for future membership fee increases.

Costco reported:

For Q4 2022:

  • EPS of $4.20, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $4.12 by 1.9% and Q4 2021’s $3.76 by 11.7%.
  • Revenue of $72.09B, which was roughly in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $71.84B, but beat Q4 2021’s $62.68B by 15%.

For FY 2022:

  • EPS of $13.14, which beat FY 2021’s $11.27 by 16.6%.
  • Revenue of $226.95B, which beat FY 2021’s $195.93B by 15.8%.
  • 838 warehouses in operation, including 578 in the U.S.

Management did not provide guidance or comments in the press release.
