UBS Analyst Raises Walmart Price Target by 9.5% in Bullish Outlook

UBS's Michael Lasser raised their price target on Walmart (NYSE: WMT) by 9.5% from $63 to $69 on 2024/05/07. The analyst maintained their Strong Buy rating on the stock.

Lasser's update came as part of a preview for Walmart's first quarter earnings report, which is scheduled to be released on May 16, 2024. Despite facing challenges such as an uncertain spending environment, disruption caused by an early Easter, and ongoing difficulties for consumers with lower incomes, Lasser believes that Walmart had strong momentum in the first quarter of 2025.

According to Lasser's predictions, Walmart will continue to increase its market share both domestically and internationally. The analyst also noted that the company's investment case remains compelling, and there is still potential for the stock to grow.

It seems that Lasser's positive views on Walmart are shared by a majority of top-rated analysts. Currently, 84.6% of these analysts rate WMT as a Strong Buy or Buy, while 15.4% consider it a Hold. None of the analysts recommend or strongly recommend selling the stock.

The consensus forecast among analysts is that Walmart's upcoming year will deliver earnings per share (EPS) of $2.17. If these predictions hold true, it would represent a 13% increase on a year-over-year basis.

In terms of stock performance, Walmart has seen a 10.1% increase since its last quarterly report on January 31, 2024. On a year-over-year basis, the stock is up by 19.1%. However, during this period, Walmart has trailed behind the S&P 500, which has seen a growth of 25.4%.

Michael Lasser, the UBS analyst who provided the updated price target, ranks in the top 7% of Wall Street analysts according to WallStreetZen.
