Anyone Want Safer Stocks?

Anyone Want Safer Stocks?

I chose this week’s topic for an obvious reason.

That being after more than 2 years of easy gains for stocks we are being handed a fairly painful correction.

Yes, I know the S&P 500 hasn’t officially reached correction territory. But that is only because of investors clinging to their beloved Mag 7 stocks keeping the index artificially aloft.

Looking across many sectors they are 10% or more off their peaks. That includes the Russell 2000 index of small caps.

So for those who want a bit more stability in their portfolio and a better night's sleep…then now is the perfect time to appreciate our Safety rating.

Taking a step back, our Zen Ratings model not only has an overall score of A-F, which is the most important singular concept in selecting the best stocks…we also have 7 component scores for each stock to help you dial into the best picks that meet your unique needs:

  • Growth
  • Value
  • Momentum
  • Sentiment
  • Financials
  • AI
  • Safety

The “Safety” component measures a company's consistency in performance and gauges the predictability of earnings, cash flows, and operational metrics. This typically translates to a more stable share price with lower volatility.

Let me be clear…if you are a more aggressive investor and just want to maximize upside potential, then feel free to use the Zen Ratings while completely ignoring the Safety scores.

But to those of you who would like a bit less risk to still enjoy ample stock market reward…then this Safety feature is the perfect solution.

What to Do Next?

3 Top Safety Picks: Here are 3 “A” rated overall stocks with the highest Safety ratings to explore now:

I am a bit more of a long term growth investor. So Safety is not my primary concern. However, I abhor volatile stocks.

If it's a case of tortoise vs. hare stocks…I will take the tortoise every time because over the long haul “slow and steady” almost always wins the investment race.

This might explain why 4 of my Zen Invetsor stocks were actually in positive territory on Friday even as the overall market was enduring a painful sell off.
