White raised his price target on Denbury Inc. by 11.4% ahead of the release of the company's Q4 and FY 2021 earnings report on 2022/02/24.

His price target follows higher crude oil futures, the analyst said.

He also expects Denbury to report lower debt levels at the end of FY 2021.

The company's balance sheet should be "in great shape," White continued.

Further, the analyst told investors that he sees additional long-term upside from Denbury's nascent CCUS* effort**, White added.

Denbury produces oil and natural gas from mature oil fields in the Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain regions.

* From here: "Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) encompasses methods and technologies to remove CO2 from flue gas and the atmosphere, followed by recycling the CO2 for utilization and determining safe and permanent storage options.

"Despite the adoption of alternative energy sources and energy-efficient systems to reduce the rate of CO2 emissions, the cumulative amount of CO2 in the atmosphere needs to be reduced to limit the detrimental impacts of climate change.

"Therefore, regardless of the deployment of clean and efficient energy solutions, CCUS technologies need to be implemented."

** From a Denbury press release dated 2021/04/26: "The Denbury Carbon Solutions team was formed in January 2020 to advance Denbury’s leadership in the anticipated high-growth CCUS industry, leveraging the Company’s unique capabilities and assets that were developed over the last 20-plus years through its focus on CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)."

From a news article dated 2021/09/21: "Denbury Inc. announced a CO₂ transport and storage agreement with Mitsubishi Corp. on Sept. 21, marking the first CCUS deal for the company. Denbury executed a term sheet with Mitsubishi for the transport and storage of CO₂ captured from Mitsubishi’s proposed ammonia project on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

“We are excited to deliver the first of what we believe will be many CO₂ transport and storage deals with industrial customers along our extensive infrastructure footprint,” Chris Kendall, president and CEO of Denbury, commented in the company release."
