So investing in them is a very indirect way to get exposure to Databricks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re out of options. Keep reading, because I\u2019ll detail some like-minded options in the AI sector below. But first\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h.358hydvhry9c\"><strong>Who Owns Databricks?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ali Ghodsi is the CEO and one of the company\u2019s founders (as well as the face of the business). However, there is no information available as to the exact extent of his ownership stake. The company\u2019s co-founders include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Andy Konwinski<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arsalan Tavakoli-Shiraji<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ion Stoica<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Matei Zaharia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patrick Wendell<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reynold Xin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, over 40 private equity companies, hedge funds, and VC firms have invested in Databricks. Some of the more recognizable names in that list include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Andreessen Horowitz<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coatue Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Counterpoint Global<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greenoaks Capital <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New Enterprise Associates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tiger Global Management <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Databricks_valuation_funding_rounds.png\" alt=\"Databricks valuation funding rounds\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>All of these companies have some degree of ownership over the business. However, exact details are scarce since private businesses are not required to share financial information with the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of the company is split between the founders, board of directors, and employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h.1v5znll613bz\"><strong>Does Microsoft Own Databricks?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nope. Microsoft (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/msft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: MSFT<\/a>)&nbsp;is a big-name investor in the company, but its stake is unknown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As noted above, the founders and investors all have some ownership of the company, although the exact details are not available to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h.hwasrivcj4fb\"><strong>How to Invest in Databricks Stock as a Retail Investor<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t give you instructions for how to buy Databricks stock on major exchanges because there is no Databricks stock.
