Investors could include Amazon, Iconiq Capital, and Qatar Investment Authority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These big numbers\u2014 and big-name investors \u2014 might have you wondering about how to invest in Anthropic. But if you want to know how to buy Anthropic stock, there\u2019s bad news \u2014 you can\u2019t. <strong>Anthropic is not publicly traded, so there\u2019s no Anthropic stock symbol to trade. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t invest in the company\u2019s technology in less direct ways. But wait, there are more big-name investors! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In late 2022, <strong>Google (<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/googl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: <\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/googl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GOOGL<\/a><\/strong><strong>) <\/strong>invested $300 million in the company, for a 10% stake\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, other notable investors include Spark Capital, <strong>Salesforce (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nyse\/crm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: CRM<\/a>)<\/strong>, Sound Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and <strong>Zoom (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/zm\/stock-forecast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: ZM<\/a>)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What makes Anthropic such a magnet for big money? <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two key things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>It was founded by former ChatGPT employees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has a promising AI chatbot named Claude.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Curious about Claude? The two released models of Claude have seen some success \u2014 in particular, they have an edge on the competition in terms of token count (basically, their model can take in much larger inputs, and produce much larger outputs). <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image2-4.png\" alt=\"Image2\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>But is it a ChatGPT stopper? Maybe, maybe not. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claude 2, the most advanced model from Anthropic, is currently in open beta \u2014 however, it is hampered by the fact that accessibility is limited to the U.K. and the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This seems to have kneecapped potential user growth. Even though Claude\u2019s larger context window allows it to give longer, more fleshed-out responses and analyze thousands of lines of code at once, these advantages over the competition haven\u2019t translated into users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claude even boasts a more recent knowledge base, with a cutoff date in early 2023 \u2014 compared to ChatGPT\u2019s cutoff date of September 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the most recent data suggests that Claude has somewhere around 1.7 million unique visits per month \u2014 <strong>compared to ChatGPT\u2019s roughly 100 million daily users and 1.6 billion visits per month. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of total funding, Anthropic could climb up to $5.3 billion if everything pans out \u2014 compared to OpenAI\u2019s $14 billion in funding from <strong>Microsoft (<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/msft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: MSFT<\/a><\/strong><strong>)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To some, this indicates that Anthropic (and its investors) are playing catch-up in the AI game. But to others, it represents an opportunity. Let\u2019s discuss further\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.6n0e0hbcuowd\"><strong>Amazon\u2019s Big Investment <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image1-3.png\" alt=\"Image1\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Amazon\u2019s $4 billion investment will take place in two phases \u2014 a $1.25 billion investment now for a minority stake, with an option for a second, $2.75 billion phase if undisclosed conditions are met. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An ecosystem is in the making, Amazon will use Anthropic\u2019s&nbsp;tech across its businesses, AWS will be Anthropic\u2019s primary cloud provider, and Amazon will also provide the custom chips necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon\u2019s investment in Anthropic will make it more competitive in the AI sphere. But this may not translate to AI dominance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bears will say that it\u2019s a meager move for Amazon, that they\u2019re simply trying to make the best of a less-than-ideal situation. The best time to invest in AI would have been four or five years ago \u2014 the second best time is right now. But it might not be enough to catch up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bulls will argue the contrary. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/analysts\/justin-post\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justin Post<\/a>, a top-rated analyst for Bank of America, reiterated his Strong Buy rating on Amazon directly after the partnership was announced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is &#8220;an interesting partnership,&#8221; the analyst characterized, because Anthropic goes up against evolving AI models from &#8220;tech titans&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/msft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/googl\" target=\"_blank\">Google<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/meta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meta<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthropic appears to have chosen Amazon as its &#8220;primary&#8221; cloud partner because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/googl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a>&nbsp;has already invested in and developed its own large language models, Post said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, Anthropic&#8217;s agreement with Google&nbsp;will continue and the company still plans to make its technology available via Google Cloud and elsewhere, Post said, citing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/deals\/amazon-steps-up-ai-race-with-up-4-billion-deal-invest-anthropic-2023-09-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Reuters article<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A $4B investment suggests Amazon&#8217;s management believes Anthropic has the potential to become &#8220;one of the AI leaders,&#8221; the analyst posited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deal &#8220;could be a branding event for AWS,&#8221; Post concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.rvp13zv8qp0v\"><strong>Can You Buy Anthropic Stock? Is Anthropic Publicly Traded?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I know. You\u2019re here because you want to know how to buy Anthropic stock. The short answer is that you can\u2019t \u2014 &nbsp;the company isn\u2019t publicly traded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company might go public at some point, but the company has not given any indication that an IPO is on the horizon.
