This includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Reverse stock split (decreasing the number of outstanding shares and increasing the price per share)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repurchasing Undervalued Shares <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing sales &amp; Revenues Without Increasing Costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raise Money <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.vutofrudosmo\"><strong>Case Study: What Actually Happens if a Stock Goes to Zero?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning the theory is ok, but what happens if a stock goes to zero in real life? Their stock price plummeted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the time Enron declared bankruptcy in December 2001, its stock was trading at just $0.26 and investors lost everything invested in the company. However, the SEC awarded $7.2 billion to shareholders, since the fraud was so prevalent. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/image7-11.png\" alt=\"Image7\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.urfk3rcn1ib4\"><strong>More Positive Examples<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, Enron is an anomaly. Here are some other examples with happier endings: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Hertz<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hertz (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/htz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: HTZ<\/a>) filed for bankruptcy in 2020. But it reemerged a year later.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/go\/wsz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/image1-16.png\" alt=\"Image1\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>They received more than $5.9 billion of new equity from investors, reduced corporate debt by nearly 80%, and got back on track for investors. Today, its stock trades at roughly $17\/share. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.1w2zc7n1uafz\"><strong>Apple<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/stocks\/us\/nasdaq\/aapl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NASDAQ: AAPL<\/a>) nearly went bankrupt in 1997, but its biggest rival, Microsoft, of all companies, gave them a $150 million investment. It turned the company around and helped it become the $180+\/stock it is today. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/go\/wsz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallstreetzen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/image5-16.png\" alt=\"Image5\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h.3vrq8ahid962\"><strong>Can You Profit on Falling Stock Prices?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes &#8230; But it can be risky.
